Prerequisite Understanding:
- The volume of a 3D solid is the amount of space the object occupies
- Volume is measured unit cubes.
- To calculate the volume of a prism find the area of the base and multiply it by the distance between the bases or the height of the figure. V=Bh (B= area of the base)
- A rectangular prism has a rectangular base so the area of the base (B) is length times width. V=lwh is the same a V=Bh

Students apply their knowledge of volume by considering how many of their favorite thing it would take to fill up the room. Students will consider what their favorite thing is. They will have the opportunity to bring their favorite thing to class to get an idea of how much space it takes up in the room. We will have discussions relating the worksheet to this interactive portion. Students will work with partners to complete the assignment. The purpose is to not get the exact answer but to problem solve and think flexible, while also going back to check if answers are reasonable.
