As teachers, students, and families deal with school closures, PBS LearningMedia producers and educators have come together to curate a special collection of resources organized by grade and subject area. Find videos, lesson plans, and activities that support learning at home. Create a free account to save and organize content.

Featured lesson plans in this collection contain full contextualization for the media they include. Plan and adapt our lessons in creative ways, using the Lesson Builder tool, Google Classroom, Remind, and more.

For early educators, we’ve assembled packets of printable activities to download and share with parents and students. Check out our PreK-K packet, and Grades 1-2 packets.

Save the Library!
Rating
0.0 stars

There is so much information available in a library that students often don't know where to begin. In this lesson, students decide which library resources are most helpful in the assignment scenarios the teacher describes. For assessing understanding, students write essays to make a case for saving a library from budget cuts or possible closure by sharing examples of tools that help the community.

In this lesson, students will be going through the Wonders Literature Anthology, reading “The Talented Clementine” and “Clementine and the Family Meeting”. Before reading the texts, students will review story elements by listening to the YouTube link posted below. The teacher and students will then go through reading the texts, pausing throughout reading to place sticky notes in their text to annotate the plot of the story (including setting, characterization and key events). Students will show their understanding by completing assignments in their reading/writing companion, and will then create a “Storyboard That” showing beginning, middle, and end of both texts for their formative assessment.
