In this activity, students will read a piece that is uploaded to SeeSaw by the teacher. The teacher may want to have students use the piece again in the year to measure growth.

Freckle is a FREE website that provides online learning in math, science, social studies and english language arts. Students take a pretest and then their individualized learning plan begins.

Epic! is a free online library for educators. Students are able to select from a vast selection of books, audiobooks and videos.

Students will sort Fuzz Bugs by color into matching containers creating a bar graph. Questions are then asked requiring students to interpret the graph and enter in answers. Questions are read aloud for nonreaders.

Students will complete research about an animal of their choice using the San Diego Zoo Kids Zoo website. The students will create a SlideShow Presentation to share with the class teaching about their animal. The class will use given “clues” based on research to guess the student's animal.

Students will use Google Slides to play a Guess Who game. The teacher will share one Google Slide presentation to all students. Each student will create one slide, and type two sentences describing themselves on that slide. Students will then be given a slide number randomly, they will have to guess who that person is.

An engaging way for students to learn about and make comparisons in history is to create remixes using photos and paintings from that time in history. Using the Library of Congress archives and Google images in the public domain, students can download the images and remix them using iPiccy to communicate about that time in history.

Students brainstorm a list of bucket fillers together to inspire acts of kindness locally and globally

Students will design a survey to explore their classmates' feelings and experiences with bullying. Once the class has participated in the survey, they will analyze the data, discussing implications and how they can improve/build classroom community.

Flipgrid is a fantastic FREE Tool where students can create a video presence to support collaboration and their learning. Students will use FlipGrid to share information on any given topic of your choice. It is a platform where they can communicate ideas and eventually collaborate with others.

An infographic is a visual presentation of information in the form of a chart, graph, or other images accompanied by minimal text, intended to give an easily understood overview of a subject. They are very popular and frequently found on websites, newsprint, magazines, etc. Students may create infographics to share out research on any variety of topics, statistics generated from surveys, or a host of other options that cross the various content areas.

InsertLearning is a Chrome extension that turns websites into interactive lessons. As long as students have a Google login and password, Chromebook or Chrome extension on a computer, they can login or be assigned an assignment by the teacher through Google Classroom. The website text can be highlighted and sticky notes, videos, questions and discussions inserted to create a very interactive lesson between student and teacher.

Nearpod is an online site where a teacher can create and import interactive lessons along with online assessments, polls, virtual field trips, etc. Teachers share a live session, students enter a code, and the lesson is synced to all devices. Teachers will increase student engagement by learning how to use Nearpod.

National Geographic has an interactive mapmaker website where you can use markers, lines, or shapes to tell your story on MapMaker. You can add in text, photos, and videos with their rich editing tool to customize the map.

Students will learn how to use the Internet to find facts about their topic. Students will be searching safe sites that are credible, teaching students that finding accurate information is very important when being an investigator.

In the first grade, students will be visiting approved sites that most likely will still have advertisements. The students will learn how to distinguish between the advertisements and the actual content they are supposed to be using.

It is important that students are taught to identify what is fake and what is real. After reading the content on a website about “The Pacific Northwest Tree Octopus”, an endangered animal, students will understand that when they search online that not all sources are credible.

Teaching addition with 10 frames? Make it fun with Doodle Buddy! Doodle Buddy is available for iPads and Chromebooks and allows students to draw, stamp, stencil, and create doodles. With a 10 frame background, students are able to stamp their addition problems with ease and show their learning in a fun and creative way.

Making your own graph is a fun way to look at information! Making it online could be even better! Students can use these free sites provided to learn and practice graphing strategies that will allow them to dig deeper into information in order to gain a stronger understanding of manipulating and understanding data.

It is important that students learn how to search safely online. Students will get an introduction to safe search engines, including MeL (Michigan e-Library.org), to find ways to search safely for information. Students will also review how using key effective keywords will give them better results.
