This collection uses primary sources to explore the experiences of African American Soldiers in World War I. Digital Public Library of America Primary Source Sets are designed to help students develop their critical thinking skills and draw diverse material from libraries, archives, and museums across the United States. Each set includes an overview, ten to fifteen primary sources, links to related resources, and a teaching guide. These sets were created and reviewed by the teachers on the DPLA's Education Advisory Committee.

I have created a Google sites website that provides students with the opportunity to explore the United States becoming a world power independently. The predominant area of focus of this unit is U.S. Imperialism, and WWI.  I am currently employed at an alternative education high school and am going to be using this site to let the students complete the tasks at their own pace in order maximize learning as well a flexibility. I have included a study guide/ note taking guide, assessments, projects and other various assignments.

The aim of this lesson is to introduce the role and contribution of the Indian forces on the Western Front. Students should recognise that the Indian forces made their contribution despite on-going prejudice and racism from British society.

This book provides high school U.S. History teachers and students with sets of primary and secondary sources about important topics. Some teachers will use it as a supplement to a traditional textbook. For those looking to leave the textbook behind entirely, it will provide a course with basic structure and continuity, and will reduce the burden of finding new primary sources for each class meeting. However, it is not yet comprehensive enough to meet the coverage requirements of, for example, an Advanced Placement test.
