Project Outline

AskWhat keeps your attention when you are introduced to and/or meet new people? How can we use these “attention keepers” to tell accurate stories of important people from history? What would make being “introduced” to historical figures more interesting?
ImagineYou work at the 20th Century History Museum. Several museum exhibits have struggled to attract viewers and have consistently received low visitor ratings. These exhibits are scheduled to be removed from the museum if their ratings and visitor numbers do not increase within the next four months. You have been chosen to improve one of the struggling exhibits. You will be paid based on the effectiveness of your work. The higher ratings your exhibit receives, the more money you make!
PlanUse  primary and secondary sources to research your historical figure. Decide how you will explain the information you’ve found to someone. What attention keepers will you incorporate? What type of graphics would best represent their historical contribution?
CreateBegin creating your museum exhibit using CoSpaces Merge Cube. Remember, your goals are accuracy and high visitor ratings.Your exhibit must use all 6 sides of your cube. Be sure to include the following information. With what nation is your historical figure associated with?During what years were they most influential? For what actions and lasting impacts are your historical figure best remembered? Why did your historical figure begin to do the work for which they are known? In what ways are they remembered? What are the various points of view of their actions?
ImproveHow could you have better completed the task?Given the opportunity to complete this again, what would you do differently, why?
Closure / Student ReflectionsClosureTake a walk through the museumMerge Cube Historical Narratives will be shared with the class using a gallery walk format. ReflectWhich leaders stand out to you? Why?Many of these leaders are connected to one another. compare/contrast 2 leaders who you have just “met”, then explain how their leadership roles impacted each other.
Possible Modifications / ExtensionsExtension: Compare and Contrast 3 of the leaders you “met” from different continents.Explain how their leadership roles impacted one another. Modification:reduce cube requirements (4 info/2 graphics)Have students compare and contrast the 2 leaders they pick for the reflection rather than “explain the connection”
