Task Preview

Part 1:  Brian collects Pokémon cards. He is hoping to find a Pikachu card.  He went to the store and purchased 3 new packs of cards.  Each pack had 8 cards in it.  How many new cards did Brian buy to add to his collection?

 Part 2:  Brian already has 623 Pokémon cards in his collection.  How many cards will he have when he adds the new ones he just bought?

Part 3:  Brian’s friend, Riley, decides to make a trade with him.  He agrees to give him one Pikachu card if Brian gives him 288 of his other cards.  About how many Pokémon cards will Brian still have after he trades with Riley?  Use a sentence to explain how you know.
