Part 1:

A baker makes square cakes and decides to cut the pieces different each day of the week. If she wants to make 8 dollars for the whole cake, how much money will each individual piece sell for? 

Part 2:  

While shopping on Wednesday, Martina says to the baker, “Buying 2 pieces of cake today will cost the same as one piece of cake on Monday.”  Is Martina correct? Explain why or why not. Use fractions to justify your thinking.
