PLCs Uploading to #GoOpenNC
Are you interested in sharing resources to support the improvement of teaching and learning throughout North Carolina? Below are a few things to consider and some suggested next steps to help get your resources ready to share. We’d love to have your Top 50 educational resources that can be used, shared and remixed.
Connect
Connect with your PLC and choose some resources you might be interested in sharing. To consider asking yourself:
How will I find the educational resources that support the main focus of our organization/district/school?
How will I find the educational resources that have been used the most by our teachers?
How will I find the educational resources that include supports and scaffolds for diverse learners?
Assess
Assess resources for sharing. Consider asking your group of experts:
Is the resource openly licensed?
This material does not contain any copyrighted materials at all, including any images. The author has agreed to give it a CC license. | Yes - it can be added to #GoOpenNC. This is the preferred method. |
This material contains external links to copyrighted materials, but the main educational materials are not copyrighted and the author has agreed to give it a CC license. (Ex. - A lesson plan that accompanies the book “The Hate U Give” by Angie Thomas.) | Yes - it can be added to #GoOpenNC, but please clearly identify any resources that are copyrighted. |
This material has been copyrighted, has unclear usage permissions, or it is not possible to contact the author to request usage permissions. | No - do not add this to #GoOpenNC. |
Is the resource high-quality?
Is this resource directly aligned to a NC Standard? | Yes - it can be added to #GoOpenNC. |
Is this resource high quality? | Consider using pg. 2 of this Quality Review tool from NCDPI and the Friday Institute before adding it. |
Is this resource a unit, lesson plan or other educational resource? | Yes - all resources can be added to the platform. |
What is the format of the resource?
The resource currently exists only on a website. | Yes - it can be added to #GoOpenNC as an external link. It will not be remixable on the platform. |
The resource currently exists only as a PDF. | Yes - it can be added to #GoOpenNC as an attachment. It will not be remixable on the platform. |
The resource currently exists as a Word doc. | Yes - it can be added to #GoOpenNC as an attachment (not remixable) or copied/pasted into an Open Author file that can be remixed by other educators. |
The resource currently exists as a Google Doc | Yes - it can be added to #GoOpenNC as an external link (not remixable) or copied/pasted into an Open Author file that can be remixed by other educators. |

Who will receive attribution for creation and will it be affiliated with an organization?
What tags might you use to help your organization find these resources on the platform?

Submit
Submit resource links and metadata for sharing
How to Submit resource links and metadata
If you are interested in submitting more than 50 resources, please follow the steps below:
Watch this video tutorial that walks you through how to fill out the metadata spreadsheet
Make a copy of the metadata spreadsheet and add your district/organization’s name in the title
Fill out the Sample Record tab in the metadata spreadsheet for each of your 50+ resources starting at row 4
Email your completed metadata spreadsheet to GoOpenNC@dpi.nc.gov
