Remix Jackson County #GoOpenNC Community Building Next Steps

District/School/Network Name

1) Engaging with Resources - The WHAT:

#GoOpenNC has three main opportunities to interact with the resources on the platform.

Level of Engagement

What would be your vision for WHAT your educators would do in the next 6 months?

What would be your vision for WHAT your educators would do in the next 18 months?

Find/Use Existing Resources

Initial marketing for resources on the platform; exploration phase of resourcesAll teachers have working knowledge of the resources available on the platform and its capabilities; most have implemented or explored using one or more lessons in classrooms.

Collect/Curate Resources and Collections

Professional learning on curation and collection of resources.Pilot groups of teachers working to collect and curate resources.

Create/Upload Resources

Professional learning on creating and uploading resources. Pilot groups of teachers working  on creating and uploading resources.

2) Engaging with Platform - The HOW:

#GoOpenNC has three main ways to participate on the platform

#GoOpenNC Initiative

What would be your vision for HOW your educators would participate on the platform in the next 6 months?

What would be your vision for HOW your educators would participate on the platform in the next 18 months?

Share/Evaluate Resources

Teachers will understand how resources are evaluated and have awareness on the option to share resources.  Explore the "why" behind sharing and evaluating resources.

Teachers may opt-in to a group that would share resources and experiences with the evaluation and sharing of resources. Teachers collaborate on how this practice impacts instruction.  These teachers may share out with others on building, sharing, and evaluating resources.

Participate in Professional Learning locally or statewide

Professional Learning on OER, delivered via teacher leaders and ITFs, professional learning focused on initial implementation and options. Start with awareness and who may assist others in the process.  Canvas course to walk through how to get started.

Implemented into Technology Professional Learning plan.  Teacher leaders initiate building a Community of Practice.

Network and Collaborate with Other NC Educators

In-house professional learning only in 6 months.

Collaboration with other NC educators (outside of Jackson County) will begin with teacher leaders and early adopters.

3) Engaging the Educators - The WHO:
