The Things They Carried: A Refugee Project
Introduction:
You will create a three minute audio recorded biography of a refugee from a list created by your teacher. You will write a biography of their life, record it, create a QR Code Link, and a suitcase presentation that students will listen to and write a reflection for a final grade.
Directions:
- Choose or assign small groups will assign small groups.
- Your group will then choose a refugee from the list.
- Your group will ONLY use primary resources. Some suggestions are: NC WISE OWL, United Nations, UNHCR, Library of Congress, British National Library, and Refugees.org to research information about the refugee of your choice.
- Use the Biography Research Sheet to record information about your refugee. You must include all sources in MLA format on the Biography Sources Sheet.
- Be sure to review the rubrics and checklist to ensure that your project meets the expectations.
- You will ONLY use approved primary sources to create The Things They Carried project that includes the following:
- The end product will be:
- A biography of your refugee in MLA format from the group.
- A three part recording of your piece of the biography.
- A QR Code that links to your biography recording.
- A suitcase that tells the story of a day in the life of your refugee.
- The content of the product must be up-to-date, accurate, and informative. Your goal is to make sure the class knows the biography of your refugee and the story of a day in the life of your refugee
