#GoOpenNC has three main opportunities to interact with the resources on the platform.

  • FTs/CTs gather resources from their COPs
  • AIG/GoGrow teachers create collections of enrichment lessons/activities/resources for regular ed Ts
  • MCs build folders of resources for relevant topics
  • Have curating parties where groups come together to share resources they’ve found/used
Create/Upload Resources
  • Curriculum resources from curriculum team loaded.
  • Existing Learning Focused plans/units loaded.
  • Focus on IV and PCVA cohort teachers
  • Beth and Lauren put PD resources for Instructional Tech on platform
  • Focus on Canvas power users outside PCVA
  • Google Certified Teachers through Mobile Mind cohort
  • MCs create units for elementary Encore
  • MCs edit/revise guidelines for middle & high school library assistants
  • AIG migrate lesson plans and resources from Google Site to platform.
  • Maybe start with closed groups with the understanding that there is an expectation to eventually be shared with whole platform.
  • Have PLC groups co-author a lesson/resource so that there’s more than one name on the item.


2) Engaging with Platform - The HOW:

#GoOpenNC has three main ways to participate on the platform

Share/Evaluate Resources
  • Targeted groups may begin sharing resources after initial PD (AIG/GoGrow/MC/FT/CT/IV/PCVA)
  • After initial PD, targeted groups evaluate resources using rubric
  • Classroom teachers are encouraged to explore the platform by rating and leaving comments on resources using the rubric provided by DPI.
  • Target groups begin to look for gaps in resources and fill in and/or reach out to those who can help fill in those gaps.
Participate in Professional Learning locally or statewide
  • Focus on changing mindset to one of “Community of Practice” and improvement over perfection.
  • PD on Copyright and Creative Commons
  • Can’t unknow what you’ve learned
  • PD and practice with evaluating resources already in platform using the provided rubric.
  • PD and practice with evaluating resources created within district that are being prepared to share on platform
Network and Collaborate with Other NC Educators
  • Specialist groups ( ITFs, curriculum chairs, AIG, etc) begin to reach out to others in their areas
  • Specialist groups (ELL, Arts, Counselors, AIG, etc) begin to reach out to others in their areas

#GoOpenNC has opportunities for all educators to being engaging. Consider who would be your main early engagers in the next 6 months.
