Students will understand the relationship between number labels (such as "4" naming a collection of four) and quantities. Prior to this lesson students should have had experiences comparing sets of objects.

The goal of this lesson is to bridge standards CC.6 and MD.2 by comparing sets using measurement concepts and vocabulary.

Students will write the numbers missing in the grid to demonstrate their understanding of number order.

The purpose of this task is for students to explain how they know one quantity is greater or less than another quantity. Students will easily be able to identify which number is greater or less. However, explaining their reasoning will help them solidify their number sense skills.
