This is a simple task about interpreting the graph of a function in terms of the relationship between quantities that it represents.

This task presents an opportunity to explore a more general and non-algebraic view of functions.

Categorized proteins and their functions will be discussed (structural, contractile, storage, defense, transport, signaling, enzymes).

What happens to a protein’s role when it is present, absent or altered? How does the structure of a protein play a role in its function?

Proteins have different functions. When a protein like lactase is important for a specific function (digestion, in the case of lactase), not having it or denaturing it can cause that function to go awry.

This activity will review functions of glucose, cell division, mitosis, cytokinesis, cell wall, cell plate, cellulose, starch in plants.

In this lesson, students use rate of change to determine if a function is a linear function. Students interpret the equation y = mx + b as defining a linear function, whose graph is a line.

In this task students interpret two graphs that look the same but show very different quantities. The first graph gives information about how fast a car is moving while the second graph gives information about the position of the car. This problem works well to generate a class or small group discussion. Students learn that graphs tell stories and have to be interpreted by carefully thinking about the quantities shown.
