    Beginning Inequalities Lesson

    Standard Addressed: 7.EE.4b

    Learning Targets:

    • Students will be able to graph inequalities on a number line.
    • Students will be able to write inequalities from a sentence.
    • Students will be able to solve inequalities.

    Materials needed:

Pen, paper, inequalities note guide, inequalities practice, computer/chromebook

    Teacher Directions:

Distribute the Inequalities Note guide to students.  Complete the note guide with students.

When the notes are complete, distribute the inequalities splash practice to students. For this activity, students will answer the ten questions and display their answers on a splash poster. A splash poster means they will randomly place their answers on a piece of paper in a creative way.  Teacher should facilitate, answer questions and check answers.

After the practice, students can complete one of these extra practices (or use as an assessment).

I would only change #1 to use this in my class of 9th graders.
