Personalized Learning Sight Words
Overview
Use this progress monitoring tool to help students build and track their sight word knowledge. Seven different lists of words are provided for the students to master. You can color code your list if you choose. Students will be preassessed on the knowledge of 10 sight sords. You will record answers on the Sight Word Checklist and then hole punch the students sight word ring for the words they know. Students will then work on the words they still need to master for the week. Students will be checked at the end of the week for growth. As the list of words are mastered, a new list of words can be added to the each studnet's sIght word ring.
Sight Word Builders
The teacher will provide the student with a list of 10 sight words and assess their knowledge of the words by having the student read the words. The teacher will mark words that are known and unknown according. on the Sight Word Check List and hole punch the words read correctly on the student's SIght Word Ring. Provide the students time to learn the unknown words. Reassess weekly to monitor growth. As the list is mastered, go onto the next list of words.
Learning Objective: Students will track and build their knowledge of "sight" words.
Teachers will be able to use the provided word cards to track student learning. Each card has 10 words.
Student can work on learning the unknown words through a variety of choice activities such as
- building the words with magnetic letters
- writing the words on white boards
- building the words with pop cubes
- scanning QR codes that take them to watch songs or activities on You Tuube for each word
- rainbow writing the wors with markers
- typing the words onto an iPad, etc.
