Word Problems~ When math action words are not enough
Overview
This resource is a great introduction to solving word problems that do not have direct math action words that would give you a clue on what operation to use.
Solve Word Problems ~ Math Situations when math action words is not enough
Today’s focus is math action words and math situations for addition, subtraction, and multiplication. To access prior knowledge the teacher will review math action words for addition and subtraction. The teacher will call on students to develop a class list of math action words. The teacher will then introduce math action words for multiplication and division. Please note division is only for math action words NOT to solve word problems at this time.
Objective: Students will be able to identify math action words and math situations in one-step word problems.
Guiding Question: How can I identify math action words and math situations to solve single word problems?
Teacher Input: The teacher will use the Google Slides to go over a live lesson or the attached video for remote learning.
