Students will review April Rain Song and Rain Poem and then use the Seasonal Poetry template to create an original poem to be recorded using Flipgrid.

Lesson Narrative
Summary: Students will review April Rain Song and Rain Poem and then use the Seasonal Poetry template to create an original poem to be recorded using Flipgrid.  
Warm Up: Students will read the Anchor Text April Rain Song and Rain Poem.
Activity 1: Students will use the Seasonal Poetry template to create a seasonal poem based off of April Rain Song and Rain Poem.  
Activity 2: Students will practice reading their poems and then record them reading the poem live on a Flipgrid to be created by the teacher.  
Activity 3: (Extension) Students can use Voki to create an animated avatar to read their original poem.  Students can choose from many scenic backgrounds to find one that most closely resembles the season they chose to highlight in their poem.  

 

 

 

Formative Assessment
Students will watch other Flipgrid poems and leave comments on at least 2 that they watch.
