I was pleased to see this resource as the poem is currently in our District's chosen curricular materials for 7th grade. Partial alignment by covering only the "determine the meaning of words and phrases as they are used in a text" part of standard and should be considered part of a unit that would address the standard. No learning objectives have been indicated in the resource. No assessment strategies have been indicated in the resource, so users should plan to add some type of assessment. This is an excellent poem choice for analysis by middleschoolers, especially metaphorically. The technology, especially the PowerPoint may be too busy for some visual learners. The resource may also want to look at explaining why one would look at the Frozen staircase as part of the lesson overall.
