The Multiplication Trick (AIG IRP)
(View Complete Item Description)Students are asked to analyze a new method or “trick” for multi-digit multiplication. The method is based on a combination of decomposing numbers, functions, and the distributive property of multiplication over addition (in which the standard algorithm is based). This lesson was developed by NCDPI as part of the Academically and/or Intellectually Gifted Instructional Resources Project. This lesson plan has been vetted at the state level for standards alignment, AIG focus, and content accuracy.
