STEM Teacher Collaborative

The STEM Teacher Collaborative is an effort to bring together STEM Teachers from across the state- to share resources, ideas, best practices, and fellowship! For the purposes of this group, we are defining STEM Teachers as any teacher that teaches STEM as a specials/electives class in a North Carolina elementary school - where students regularly receive STEM instruction as part of the traditional electives rotation (Ex. Art/Music/PE/Media/STEM). This teacher could be certified or classified and work full-time or part-time.

I am Joanne McGirt and this is my 27th year of teaching. I have taught 1st, 2nd, 5th grade in Robeson County. I taught middle school science in both South Carolina and Georgia.

I have 4 Grown Children and 6 Grandsons.

I am currently the STEM facilitator at Southside Ashpole Elementary School (K-5)
