The interactive shopping task cards really bring real world problem solving into the classroom.
Full alignment to NC.Math.3.NBT.2 by covering the depth and breadth of that particular standard. The only part of standard that is not fully displayed in this resource is the last part that refers to using expanded form to decompose numbers and then find sums and differences.
Learning objectives need clarifying in explaining that students will only practice with one multistep problem instead of multiple word problems.
Strengths:
This resource provides a real world situation that students can identify with.
This formative assessment is a quick and easy way to determine if students understand how to solve a basic multi-step problem.
Opportunity:
Providing more real world task cards would allow for teachers to complete a scoot activity and determine student accuracy of standard.
