5th Grade Task: Find the Volume

Prerequisite Understanding: 

  • The volume of a 3D solid is the amount of space the object occupies 
  • Volume is measured unit cubes.
  • To calculate the volume of a prism find the area of the base and multiply it by the distance between the bases or the height of the figure.  V=Bh (B= area of the base)
  • A rectangular prism has a rectangular base so the area of the base (B) is length times width. V=lwh is the same a V=Bh
