Thanksgiving Literacy Fun!

This is a fun resource to get students thinking about Thanksgiving, learn some Thanksgiving vocabulary, and practice finding and writing story elements in fiction texts.

This resource would probably be most helpful to use during literacy centers or independent work time. Students can listen to the 'playlist' of books on an iPad and then respond to questions about one of the stories. To listen to the 'playlist' students will need to scan the QR code provided in the resource on an iPad using a QR Code Reader App. Then you can choose to have students listen to one, multiple, or all of the stories on the 'playlist.'

After students listen to the stories they will choose one of the stories to write about the main character, setting, and beginning, middle, end. You can choose to collect this paper as an assessment or have students share their writing with one another. As a follow-up you can discuss new vocabulary words, such as  Thanksgiving, Turkey, Feast, etc., and have students share which story was their favorite as a whole-group activity.
