I appreciate this 'Data Analysis' tool. The data collection tool provides beginning teachers a vehicle to examine, reflect, and plan students' results.

The Data Analysis tool is fully aligned with the standard, 'Teachers Reflect on Their Practice'.

STRENGTHS:
-The data analysis tool is user-friendly.
-The data analysis tool encourages beginning teachers to reflect.

OPPORTUNITIES:
-Teachers can provide a follow-up after students are reassessed.
-Students can also use a similar tool to reflect on their performance.

*This is a data analysis tool for use with beginning teachers.

*This tool is fully aligned to Standard 5, element a, of the NC PTS.

*The data collection tool is fully aligned to the standards.

*Strengths - This tool pushes novice teachers to think deeply about their instructional choices and how to address individual needs of students. It focuses not only on what the data shows but on what the teacher is going to do about the data. The form is very clear and leads the teacher through the process.

*Opportunities - Perhaps add an area for reflection after the teacher has targeted specific missing skills and re-assessed the students.

This professional resource is an excellent tool to use for data analysis with beginning teachers. The resource is fully aligned to the standard as indicated, and provides an opportunity for teachers to really dig into specific test items for alignment to content standards, depth of knowledge levels, and student misconceptions. The additional questions for reflection are also helpful for determining next steps in instruction.
