Grade 3: Salad Bar - A Problem of Fluency with Addition and Subtraction
Case Overview
In “Salad Bar”, students will take the role of a critic who will try out the salad bar and give constructive feedback to the Cafeteria Manager. Students will work with numbers while fluently adding and subtracting numbers based on algorithms, place value, and properties of operations. Students will determine what toppings they will put on their salad. Students will write a letter to the Cafeteria Manager stating the pros and cons of the Salad Bar.
