Ten frame, 5 counters                                                  

Task

• Show the student a ten frame with 5 spaces filled in. 

• Ask: How many more counters are needed to make 10?

• After the student provides a solution, ask: How do you know?

• Prompt if needed:  What did you do to figure that out?
