The AirData website provides access to air pollution data for the entire United States. Users have the ability to produce reports and maps of air pollution data based on criteria that they specify.
Students will gain experience in recognizing potential hazards to a community's water supply and weighing the risks and benefits of community development, and will practice decision-making skills in a mock town meeting.
Students will explain how groundwater moves through the soil and how it interacts with surface water and demonstrate knowledge about what groundwater is in terms of how it exists in the ground.
Students will use a simple mathematical model to estimate the vulnerability of a small town's water supply.
Students will make a topographic map and use it to predict ground water flow and investigate the most likely source of ground water contamination.
