This resource is a lesson in the beginning of a unit on the study of indigenous American Indians of NC.  It is aligned with the lissted NC Fourth grade SS standard.This lesson looks at the regions of NC and the tribes that settled in each region.  The students will have learned about the physical features of the regions and will research the indigenous people tribes living in the regions using several resources and thinking tools.It contains resources from other goopennc.com works.

In this lesson students examine how imagery is used to represent ideas, themes, periods of history, and make cultural connections to poem, "Still I Rise." Students will reflect through written expression how resiliency is in their lives, school, and community.
