Students work with a partner to make a coordinate grid by using a dry erase marker to number the x-axis and y-axis on a Geoboard. One partner creates a polygon on the Geoboard using a rubber band and names the coordinates of the vertices while the other partner plots the points on coordinate grid paper and connects the points with line segments. They will compare the picture to the polygon on the Geoboard and discuss any differences.
Students will determine the unknown factor in a division equation in tihs two-player game. They will take turns choosing a number card 1-10 until they find a factor that completes the unknown of the division equation. This activity can be used during small group instruction and later moved into a center activity to assist students master division facts. It includes four sets of division cards.
Students will practice their knowledge of polygons by sorting them using a Carroll Diagram. This interactive game can be used with a whole group or small group of students to reinforce the concept of quadrilaterals as polygons. This whiteboard activity gives instant feedback if students sort incorrectly.
