I am a high school English teacher and I really appreciated that students are prompted to engage in addressing arguments in persuasive writing to demonstrate mastery of state standards in English Language Arts. The lesson directly addresses or is aligned to English Language Arts standard RI 9.2 identifying the main idea. The lesson as clear learning objectives that are achievable through the completion of this resource. The learning objectives need clarifying in order to have students understand that through research they might only engage using academic sources and that their opinion must be research-based and not based on feeling or emotion. No assessment strategies have been indicated in the resource, so users should plan to add some type of assessment. Project Management: The resource does not allow students to manage themselves and their teams efficiently and effectively throughout a multistep project The resource additionally does not scaffold students to learn to use project management processes, tools, and strategies. This resource has strong levels of intellectual challenge and accomplishment. This resource may want to examine additional opportunities to scaffold the learning opportunity to help on-board the learning.
