This is a great strategy. I can definitely see this keeping student interest.

The teacher may add to this assignment and create the learning goal and assessment.

Appears to be a solid resource. One question in my mind concerns level of IT required for large classes to use resources at the same time.

Digital Breakout good resource for introducing or assessing learning objective and keeping students engaged.

NC.DLCT.DCI.3: Superior (3)

Full alignment to depth and breadth of standard(s) tagged.

No learning objectives or assessment strategies have been indicated in the resource, so users should plan to add learning objectives and some type of assessment.

As a resource for teachers this is a really great beginning project. All the information is there the teacher only has to manipulate it to fit his or her needs. This is an excellent resource for someone who needs something new but doesn't want to copy another person's work. This is a creation packet for teachers.

I rated this a 3 even though there is no student work because the possibility is there. If a teacher creates the digital breakout correctly students could hit this standard perfectly. A good breakout, when created correctly, could have students doing the verbs and nouns of this standard.

Purpose: Superior (3)

This has great potential if created correctly to greatly enhance what the students are learning or even what they will be learning. Each student could have the ability to approach the problem in their own way and yet every one will be using the same tools. It is a very adaptable tool and has the ability to be changed for various needs in the classroom all the while keeping the original.

Reliability: Superior (3)

As long as the school has a strong internet connection and will not bog down when more than 25 students are all streaming the same video it will be reliable. If a school goes BYOD that could cause reliability issues as the school will not have control over the device being used and will not know its capabilities.

Accessibility: Strong (2)

If there were more adaptive measures in place I would give this a 3. When the teacher creates their own digital breakout they usually take care of this themselves. However, when giving a teacher a tool it is good to have some accommodations listed. This however is not an easy job and really depends on what a school has on hand to accommodate the disability.
