NC.ELA.RL.6.6: Strong (2)

In this resource, students are using a graphic organizer to document the author's point of view. While the students do have to state the point of view and provide evidence, there could be more provided to guide the learner to identify certain elements to clarify the author's point of view. Because that is not present, this might not completely cover the standard, but does cover most of it.

Usability: Strong (2)

The resource provides clear questions and is easy to understand. It still may require modification is students are not sure what sort of evidence to include or how to clarify an author's purpose. This is only a supplemental resource for a more comprehensive lesson.

Clarity: Strong (2)

The graphic organizer is designed in a clear way and could provide for more efficient mental processing. It could provide a way for students to summarize key evidence, but could use more to scaffold the clarifying process of an author's point of view.

Motivation: Very Weak (0)

This score is mainly because this is simply a graphic organizer, with no motivational elements present other than to complete the boxes provided. It might not distract learners, but it might not sustain their engagement either.

Purpose: Limited (1)

The technology features would just provide a way for students to complete a graphic organizer using an online format. The features are not directly relevant to the subject and more supports would be needed for students to demonstrate understanding.
