Caldwell County
1. Our district OER team will have a planning meeting to debrief from the training and plan for further action.
2. Our team will plan future professional learning sessions for the county for the 2019-2020 school year.
3. Our team will implement the professional development for the county for the 2019-2020 school year.
I wonder what will be included in the introductory PD in your district and will all teachers be trained or a pilot group.
Catawba County Schools
1. We will build a foundation of licensing and open educational resources.
2. We will establish a model teacher group to lead the initiative.
3. We will merge it with TPACK and SAMR.
I like that you are starting with licensing and OER and integrating with TPACK and SAMR. This will build a strong foundation for your district.
Merging with TPACK and SAMR is a great idea.
I love the integration of TPACK and SAMR.
I like the idea of merging with TPACK and SAMR.
Using a model teacher group and including TPACK and SAMR are a great way to start.
Yes...and, it's smart to have your model teachers lead the way. This could certainly promote broader-scale buy in!
Wilkes
1. Introduce the OER platform to instructional specialists and school administrators.
2. Review EVAAS and other data to select teachers representing all content and grade levels to pilot the OER platform, vet resources, and contribute lesson plan.
3. Instructional specialists, DLFs, and pilot teachers will present the OER platform to teachers potentially in August of 2020 if it is ready and we are ready.
Sounds great, time frame looks perfect!
Starting with your ITFs, school administrators and media coordinators is a great starting point.
I like the idea of waiting to roll out of the whole district after your model groups have had time to dive into the resource.
I agree and wonder how introduction of other systems like ECATS will affect teacher perception.
Good idea to use EVAAS and data to select teachers to pilot the OER platform.
I think it's a great idea for the Instructional specialists, DLFs, & pilot teachers to learn together and present it. I also like the use of data to pull in content and grade levels.
Watauga Schools:
1 - DLC, SLMC intensive work in the platform.
2 - All WCS introduction to the platform.
3 - Committed collaborators introduction and deep dive into the individual aspect of the platform.
I like that you are choosing to work with "committed collaborators" to build buy in within your district.
I really like the deep dive into individual aspects. Need to show the whistles and bells
I believe that creating the group to work intensively in the beginning will pay off.
I think you will find success in choosing "committed collaborators".
Great to get the committed collaborators involved. I think this is a good way to start as if they have buy in and are already sharing, their peers will be more likely to join
Hickory City:
1. Organize school based teams to help share OER and how to navigate it.
2. Encourage teachers to explore, utilize, and review OER resources.
3. Encourage teachers to upload a resource or create a remix of a resource.
I like that you are going to encourage teachers to participate. I wonder what this will look like and how we might do that in our district as well.
I like that you are already thinking about having teachers create. I wonder what your time frame is?
I like encouraging your teachers time to explore, I wonder how we will be able to incorporate that here in Wilkes.
I like the word encourage!
The scaffolding within these three steps will provide support for teachers as they use and contribute to this platform!
Alleghany County
1. Organizing members of a district group.
2. Introductory meeting to educate members what GoOpen NC is. During this meeting teachers would learn about copy laws, "open resources" and the GoOpenNC platform.
3. Start a PD with selected members. During PD, members will begin collecting resources into a district group that is subdivided into grade levels and grading periods to fit district pacing guide.
I like the idea of creating a district group.
I like that you are starting with an introduction that includes copyright and open resource information. I wonder what will be included in that training, length of the training, etc. We would like to include copyright and OER training in Wilkes as well to build capacity and prepare for OER.
Your district group will integral in establishing an understanding of copyright laws and helping your teachers understand creative commons labels that many are not familiar with as they begin to use the platform and build content.
I like that you are planning an introductory meeting to introduce OER.
We are also looking at starting with a select group train first.
