by Joanna Schimizzi 5 years, 6 months ago

What are the 1-3 next steps that your district/school is planning to take to engage with #GoOpenNC?

Jennifer Dellinger 5 years, 6 months ago

Lincoln County Schools--

6 months out: teachers exploring and using GoOpenNC

18 months: teachers curate/collect resources, high fliers will be uploading quality resources

**District Implementation Team would need to meet. Friday, May 3 meeting attended by 1/2 of team; other 1/2 of team attended a prior meeting. These teams should get together on this plan. 2nd 1/2 of team not authorized to make district-level decisions.

Jennifer, Stanly has decided to bring awareness to the program the first 6 months as well.  Teachers need to  become familar with the platiform before promotion of its use.

Kenneth McKee 5 years, 6 months ago

Yes, and that meeting could happen before school gets out.

I wonder who else you could invite to your planning meeting.

Three big ideas we want to move forward from today.

  1. What is OER? How to access?
  2. Creative Common licensing to share and remix resources
  3. Sharing the rubric/checklist with teachers as they come in contact with OER
Jennifer Dellinger 5 years, 6 months ago

Agreed. I think the biggest piece for our teachers will be knowing what exactly is OER. Once they see what it is (and what it can offer) I can see them getting on board :)

Diana Carpenter 5 years, 6 months ago

Perfect plan.

What is OER?  Teachers will definitely need PD on this resource.

Dawn Perez 5 years, 6 months ago

Your 1-2-3 are great steps to support our teachers using and sharing OER!

Brainstorming for MGSD all by myself:

  1. Make sure all SLMCs and ICs have training in Go Open NC in next 6 months
  2. Give SLMCs and ICs have time to search for resources to share with our teachers to show its value
  3. Introduce it to teacher leaders in the next 18 months
Kenneth McKee 5 years, 6 months ago

Yes, and teacher leaders could be shown how tou use the resources in PLC's when students don't meet their learning goals.

I wonder how the teacher leaders will be identified.

Your SLMCs are one of your greatest resources.  They also should know where some of the curriculum gaps are within your school.

6 mo.:

Curriculum Coaches begin reading, evaluating and collecting resources. Organizing for content/grade levels

ITS begin planning professional development about OER and licensing, assisting curriculum coaches and platform support

18 mo:

Teachers implement, collect/currate resources

Core Content Teams upload quality resources

Kenneth McKee 5 years, 6 months ago

Yes, and Curriculum coaches might even be able to upload a resource.

I wonder how you might deliver professional learning (online, in-person, in PLCs, workshop, etc?)

1. Share #GoOpen NC resources with media coordinators and ITF's

2. Utilize media coordinators and ITF's as point persons to introduce #GoOpenNC

3. Create a Canvas #GoOpenNC course

Dawn Perez 5 years, 6 months ago

Media Coordinators are a great support for our teachers as we engage in this process!!!
