Using the strengths, what can they offer to #GoOpenNC?

Thinking about Possible Needs, What can they take from #GoOpenNC?

Specialists are just that, specialists.  They have a solid expertise in an area that could really benefit other educators that may not neccessarily share that strength.

They are also often a singleton in their building so something like GoOpenNC helps them to gain additional resources and see how things are done across the state.

Help with building a structure easy to navigate as far as grade level and curriculum needs.

Being able to provide adequate structure to assist grade level and curriculum depends on the teachers be vested and ready to step out of the normal parameters that would otherwise complicate the dissemination of information that  would flow from the information that would best serve the population being acadeimically served.  However, not everyone is willing to make adaptations that would best suit the needs and service of those who could not otherwise serve themselves.

ITF specialists could offer the platform a set of experts who could go into existing teacher lessons within the platform and remix them to include a variety of levels of technology (SAMR).  This groupu of ITFs could also get feedback from the platform about the types of technology trainings that are being used the most and the least. The platform shares when a resource has been  visited and remixed with the creators of the resource.

Media Specialists ARE the resource experts so they have much to offer to #GoOpenNC.  Along that same vein, they can act as the "traffic directors" for navigating through the different levels of the site and all the new vocbulary used for labeling the different parts of the site.

The needs are always the same: access to professional development and then the time to model that PD to their teachers.

Media specialists form a large repository of existing resources for the state's teachers and yet are often under-utilized.  Within a school and/or a district, media specialists could help to build a community of subject area and/or grade specific teachers to collaborate on their needs/wants within their curriculum.  As a facilitator, the media specialists could help to seek out resources in the OER and thereby expand the individual schools' collections exponentially.  As a media specialist, they can also reach out to the district to insure that the technology infrastructure is in place for teachers to utilize the resources and to collaborate efficiently.  More than likely, they will serve as the point person within their schools to train, model, and engage the staff with OER.

Possible needs?  Specifically training media specialists and/or technology facilitators/curriculum facilitators on OER and making training resources available to them in order to facilitate with staffs.

strengths=Lots of opportunities offered to teachers to collaborate within their field; a platform that is accessible anytime because it's all virtual.

possible needs=  information dissemination to teachers that there are lots of groups to join in, and resources  that are directly aligned with the standards.
