In this activity, students use art supplies to create a 3-D game to highlight notable women in sports, science, politics, and other fields.
In this lesson, students develop a list of women of honor and create placemats to celebrate their accomplishments in the style of Judy Chicago's "The Dinner Party."
In this lesson, students put together letter cards to form simple single syllable words.
In this lesson, students are challenged to come up with new words based on their relationship to vocabulary words they are currently studying.
In this lesson, students read poetry that highlights the power of words and then explore words that unite people and words that divide people. Students will create a spinning word wheel diagram that shows how people react emotionally when different words are spoken to them.
In this activity, students consider worries that they may have and consider worry words. They will then use art supplies to build a Worry Warrior that will gobble up their worries. Students will also consider ways to deal with worry and use this "courage connection" to replace the worries they earlier identified.
In this lesson, students explore words and how their meanings may change based on the way they are used. They will also be introduced to similes and metaphors and write and illustrate their own example of figurative language.
