After watching a video story about tangrams, students will explore making shapes with tangrams and then will write a story together that is illustrated with tangram pictures.  This lesson was developed by NCDPI as part of the Academically and/or Intellectually Gifted Instructional Resources Project. This lesson plan has been vetted at the state level for standards alignment, AIG focus, and content accuracy.

In this lesson, students will see how the setting influences a story in several ways: the plot, the characters, and the tone. Students will use the illustrations and details to describe the setting of a fiction story. Students will practice writing narratives using complete sentences and visual displays that help to clarify ideas.
