Students will watch a PowerPoint presentation that explains the types of businesses and complete a worksheet going over the benefits and cost to each type of business. Students will read a variety of business scenarios, and decide which type of business will be best for each situation.

The purpose of this activity is to teach writing in a science context using the text structure of cause and effect.

Students will compare and contrast related organisms and discover their survival advatage. Students will examine photos of two related organisms and list physical characteristics that are similar and unique among the organisms. After a class discussion on how variations give organisms a survival advantage in their environments, students will participate in shared writing assignments.

After discussing similarities and differences, the students will predict how the three worm models will react when using a flashlight, a heat source (the sun), and water for moisture.

In this lesson, students complete several math activities. They will also use a globe and maps to track the penguins' journies from Antarctica to Australia and back to Utah via the Pacific Ocean.
