In this exercise, students will use StarGenetics to understand the concept of true breeding in genetics by examining a specific genetic trait, flower color, in pea plants.
In this exercise, students will use StarGenetics to explore the relationship between …
In this exercise, students will use StarGenetics to explore the relationship between phentoype and genotype by following the inheritance of a specific genetic trait, flower color, in pea plants.
In this exercise, students will use StarGenetics to compare the observed phenotypic …
In this exercise, students will use StarGenetics to compare the observed phenotypic ratios and corresponding genotypic ratios to those predicted using a one-gene Mendelian model of inheritance, and study the effect of sample size on experimental results, including the use of the chi-square test (optional).

With this problem set, students can assess their understanding of the monohybrid cross. For each problem there is a tutorial feature that will explain the science behind the problem.
Students will simulate a monohybrid cross between two heterozygous parents and utilize …
Students will simulate a monohybrid cross between two heterozygous parents and utilize the experimental data to develop a Punnett Square for the prediction of the offspring. Students will learn and apply knowledge of key terms of inheritance during this exercise.
Sample Learning Goals Determine which mutations are favored by the selection agents …
Sample Learning Goals Determine which mutations are favored by the selection agents of predators and food variety and which mutations are neutral. Describe which traits change the survivability of an organism in different environments. Experiment with environments which produce a stable population of bunnies, a population that dies out, and a population that takes over the world. Track genes through multiple generations. Compare how dominant and recessive genes get passed onto offspring.

This resource is a compilation of text, videos, and other elements to create a scaffolded 5E learning experience for students. In this lesson, students will identify some changes in genetic traits that have occurred over several generations through natural selection and selective breeding.

This module includes an interactive game and associated learning materials that will help students learn about mechanisms of inheritance, bringing together Mendelian inheritance and molecular genetics concepts.
This hands-on activity uses simulations with beads to teach students about population …
This hands-on activity uses simulations with beads to teach students about population genetics, the Hardy-Weinberg principle, and how natural selection alters the frequency distribution of heritable traits.

Students will use Punnett Squares to determine the genotypes, phenotypes, and percentages of parents and children with certain traits. Students will learn about 2 genetic disorders and determine which parents are more likely to have a child with the disease.

This is a remix of an existing resource - https://goopennc.oercommons.org/courses/lab-activity-report-human-traits-punnett-squares. It was created by New York Science Teacher. I remixed it because there were inaccuracies about the original content (eye color is not simple dominant/recessive) and there was family-based bias in the original resource. I made changes to focus on PTC tasting, because it is much closer to being simple dominant/recessive. The remixed resource directly addresses that even PTC tasting is not fully dominant/recessive any more.

This brief video lesson discusses X chromosome inactivation and how this can affect the expression of certain genes. Discussion/assessment questions and suggested supplemental resources are also included.
In this lesson, students will learn the names, characteristics, and causes of …
In this lesson, students will learn the names, characteristics, and causes of several different sex linked disorders, including muscular dystrophy. Students will create, describe and predict genotypes according to genetic pedigrees.
