In this lesson, students work in groups, plotting carbon dioxide concentrations over time on overheads and estimating the rate of change over five years. Stacked together, the overheads for the whole class show an increase of carbon dioxide over five years and annual variation driven by photosynthesis.
Student will compare images of the Sun in various wavelengths of light including infrared, visible, and ultraviolet.
In this activity, students design their own airplanes and fly them. The challenge is to create a fast plane and a slow plane and compare the speed to the design. Students will hypothesize and test which factors affect the speed of the plane (e.g. mass, shape, force thrown, etc.).
