Students will create an artifact using Tinkercad and a 3D printer. The artifact must be a product that distinctly relates to their subject. orStudents will create a holographic presentation using Cospace and Merge Cube. The hologram will be representative of something distinct to their subject matter.
Students will create a digital presentation of their topic. Areas highlighted will be Human-Environment Interaction, Politics, Economics, Culture (to include Religion) and Technology. Students will also discuss the important points of the previously created timeline.
In this lesson, students participate in read-alouds and discussions about memories and family. After this exploration, students brainstorm questions to ask family members in order to learn more about important and/or memorable family events. Once students determine a list of questions, they interview family members, taking notes on the events and giving each a positive or negative rating. Using their interview notes, students create a graphic family timeline which includes illustrations or photographs.
In this lesson students identify with Dr. King through reading, writing, listening, and speaking activities that provide a glimpse into Dr. King's life. Students record what they know about Dr. King on a KWL chart. They then read aloud the picture book My Brother Martin: A Sister Remembers and add information to the KWL. Throughout the week, they explore websites and other sources of information about Dr. King, record new information on the KWL chart, and keep a journal of their own thoughts and ideas. As a culminating activity, they plan a birthday party for Dr. King to celebrate is birthday.
This chapter introduces students to history by exploring the ideas of past, present, and future. Students learn about timelines and eventually construct their own timeline of important events in their lives. Through it all they learn about how people learn about the past.
