This textbook covers Algebra II and Trigonometry topics with chapters on equations and inequalities, linear equations and functions, systems of linear equations and inequalities, matrices, quadratic functions and more.

This lesson unit is intended to help teachers assess how well students are able to: model a periodic situation, the height of a person on a Ferris wheel, using trigonometric functions; and interpret the constants a, b, c in the formula h = a + b cos ct in terms of the physical situation, where h is the height of the person above the ground and t is the elapsed time.

This assessment is used to check for understanding of standard NC.M4.AF.2.3  The assessment is open-ended and asks for students to provide understanding of amplitude, period, phase shift and vertical shift of sine and cosine graphs.  It also assesses writing equations of sine and cosine and sketching their graphs.
