NC.EX.ELA.L.3.1e: Limited (1)

Partial alignment by covering only the use of a subject to produce sentences part of standard and should be considered as part of a unit that would address the standard

This resource may want to examine additional vocabulary in some of the sentences that would allow students to use context clues when typing the answers.

NC.EX.ELA.L.3.1e: Limited (1)

This activity addresses far more than the ELA standard indicated. Prepositions, conjunctions, adverbs, and articles are not addressed until the 4th or 5th grade. The resource would be better suited to address the ELA writing standards. Although this activity is engaging and entertaining, It is developmentally appropriate for students in the middle school setting. Parts of speech are fully addressed and understood by 4th and 5th grade students.

Engagement: Strong (2)

This would be very engaging for students in the upper end of the elementary school grades and most appropriate for middle school students.

Evaluation: Limited (1)

This activity is designed to reinforce but not evaluate student mastery of grammar. It is engaging for students and will encourage them in learning more about grammar.

Adequacy: Limited (1)

Content in this resource needs to be modified to address the specific standard which is included here. NC Writing and additional Language standards can and should be included to more specifically address the topic of grammar and conventions. This activity is more developmentally appropriate for 5th-8th grade students.

Accessibility: Limited (1)

Although students are encouraged to keep trying to submit a response when the one they've submitted is incorrect, Learning disabled students will benefit from a reduced number of choices (reducing from all choices to 3 choices so these students will not feel overwhelmed.
