    Overview

This is an introduction to adjectives and adverbs that includes a digital anchor chart.

    Define Terms & Give Examples

    Adjective

An adjective describes a noun or a pronoun.

The words red in "the red car", deep in "the water is deep" and tired in "I'm very tired" are adjectives. Red describes the noun car, deep describes the noun water, and tired describes the pronoun I.

    Adverb

An adverb describes an action. It can describe a verb, an adjective or another adverb. It describes time, manner, place or degree.

In “arrived early,” “runs slowly,” “stayed home,” and “works hard” the words “early,” “slowly,” “home,” and “hard” are adverbs.
