GRAPHS PROJECT

NC.6.SP.3 Understand that both a measure of center and a description of variability should be considered when describing a numerical data set.

NC.6.SP.4 Display numerical data in plots on a number line.

Step 1: Write a statistical question.________________________________________________________________

_____________________________________________________________________________________________

Step 2: Gather data from the class. Set up a frequency table. Decide if you will use intervals or single numbers.

Step 3: Analyze the data: calculate the mean (if possible), median (or median interval), and range.

Mean_________         Median__________    Range__________

Step 4: Graph the data as a dot plot, histogram, or box plot depending on the data. Do this using one of the suggested websites or on construction paper. Label the graph with a title, and the x- and y-axes.
