Squishy Circuits are fun for all ages! Use conductive dough and insulating dough to teach the basics of electrical circuits in a fun, hands-on way. Students can create a circuit which will Illuminate LED lights, make a motor spin, or a buzzer sound. Power is supplied by a 4AA battery pack and travels through the conductive dough to provide power to LEDs (Light Emitting Diodes), buzzers, or motors.

No matter what you’re doing--solving homework, playing a video game, simply picking out a shirt--all of your actions and decisions relate to your consciousness. But as frequently as we use it, have you ever stopped to ask yourself: What really is consciousness? In this module, we discuss the different levels of consciousness and how they can affect your behavior in a variety of situations. As well, we explore the role of consciousness in other, “altered” states like hypnosis and sleep.

There is a free app for both Andoid and iOS that your students can use, but there are in-app purchases that may be necessary for any extra features needed for a professional looking product. The students will get their feet wet with the free version though.

Children love to tell stories. They will make up something that happened to them just to be able to tell a story. In this lesson students will take a story they have written and publish it using Google Slides or PowerPoint. They will be able to insert pictures and speech bubbles to make their story come to life for their audience.

Do the egg drop challenge with Strawbees! Have the students be innovative designers and construct a model for the egg with the Strawbees so when it is dropped, it will not break. The students are learning about force and gravity. Using technology they can gather information to look at how they can develop the best model.

Students will follow a design process to create a video tutorial by recording the screen. Screencasting is a great way to capture the screen of your computer to create how-to videos.

Students are presented with a scenario surrounding a relevant contemporary public issue on which they can take a stand. Students will work together to create a survey that will then be shared with various groups, in order to analyze the ways in which certain groups perceive a given issue.

Teach Your Monster to Read is a free online game that makes learning to read fun! It covers everything from letters and sounds to reading full sentences.

The first thing a child usually looks at when choosing a book to read is the cover. Many great stories do not get read because the cover does not initiate curiosity in the child. In addition, students tend to enjoy reading more when they have a purpose and can take ownership of their learning. In this lesson students will be presented with a real problem to solve. They will read a text and design a new book cover to show their comprehension and thoughts about the text.

Students will be challenged in engage in design thinking as they use logic and their imagination to solve unique problems. Students will be tasked with creating an object specifically designed for a given character.

We are bombarded every day with claims about how the world works, claims that have a direct impact on how we think about and solve problems in society and our personal lives. This module explores important considerations for evaluating the trustworthiness of such claims by contrasting between scientific thinking and everyday observations (also known as “anecdotal evidence”).
