In this activity, students play a board game in which players try to ensure the survival of their animal species while dealing with problems (such as habitat destruction, pollution, or natural disasters) the animals encounter during the game. Prior to the game, the book Brother Eagle, Sister Sky by Susan Jeffers should be read aloud to the students and used to engage student thinking about human and environmental impact on animal survival.

They must incorporate various animal body parts of their choosing.   -Communication- Students are creating a Google Doc to explain the animal that they have created. The student’s will tell the animal’s name, what animal body parts it has, what habitat it will need to survive in, what adaptations it will have to make in order to survive. -Critical Thinking- Students have to use higher order thinking in order to determine how their animal will survive given the animal body parts that they have chosen. Students will brainstorm what the animal will need for the given habitat that it lives in. They will have to figure out what it will eat, what it will use for shelter, and how it will survive.
