Students focus on specific tasks that have changed because of technology. They compare the task of writing and mailing a letter to the task of sending an e-mail.
In this unit, students learn about the authority figures in school and why they enforce rules.
Students learn how their family meets the needs of the members of that family.
In this unit, students will read several books by Kevin Henkes. Students will study the characters, retell the stories, and will compare and contrast the plots of the different stories written by Kevin Henkes.
Students learn about what makes a celebration. They brainstorm celebrations they have experienced and classify them into categories. Students focus on national holidays and learn about two holidays celebrated in our national community: Veterans Day and Independence Day.

In this multiday lesson, kindergarten students learn about the physical characteristics of their community as an introduction to map skills. Students will partcipate in a variety of activities including a whole group discussion using a Powerpoint presentation, centers, a rebus story, and a neighborhood walk.
