In this lesson, students will work with numbers through one million in different forms.
This short video and interactive assessment activity is designed to teach third graders about mixed review (numbers up to 100,000).
Problem of the Day resources are for use of spiral content review in Math class. Each resource has a week worth of problems, one for each day of the week. This allows for quick, re-teachable moments of standards your students may not have mastered the first time around, or that they need additional practice with.
This short video and interactive assessment activity is designed to teach third graders about number riddles (numbers up to 100,000).
This 4 unit of number and operations lessons explores place value through millions through 3 hands-on activities and 3 worksheets.
Due to a lack of place value understanding, a real estate agent has difficulty calculating prices and comparing lot sizes and costs. Students are asked to help the struggling agent rectify his mathematical understandings. Students must generate an online lesson that addresses the real estate agent’s difficulties and teaches a variety of problem solving strategies. This lesson was developed by NCDPI as part of the Academically and/or Intellectually Gifted Instructional Resources Project. This lesson plan has been vetted at the state level for standards alignment, AIG focus, and content accuracy.
In this task students must place 4-digit numbers into order from smallest to greatest and greatest to smallest.
This task will help address the common mistake students make of only looking at the first digit in a number when comparing it to another number. The strategically placed zeros in the numbers selected for this task will provide for rich place value discussions in the classroom.
This video with attached support materials focuses on using what you know about place value to determine what value each of the three digits represents.
Students compare numbers using a card game.
This short video and interactive assessment activity is designed to teach second graders about representing numbers in expanded form II.
This short video and interactive assessment activity is designed to teach third graders about identifying the value of digits based on place value.
This short video and interactive assessment activity is designed to teach fourth graders about recognizing place value of digits in numbers ii.
This short video and interactive assessment activity is designed to teach fifth graders about representing numbers in expanded form.
