Can stronger laws and factory inspections make a difference when it comes to preventing disasters like the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory fire or the Rana Plaza factory collapse in Bangladesh? To answer this question, we selected two sources to compare. The first is a 2013 article written less than two months after the Rana Plaza collapse, in which government inspectors and Times reporters find problems in additional Bangladesh factories. The second is a 1911 Times article written shortly after the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory fire that describes other problematic buildings in the New York City region.
